Update: so I am seen by this Dr, that diagnosis me with a gastric ulcer, and prescribes me a med that cuts down stomach acid. Here's the issue....I saw the same quack a year ago, and had close to the same symptoms I had this ER visit. He told me the exact same thing.....after seeing a real Dr., less than a week later,my abdominal pain was being caused by a gallbladder that was functioning at 3%. So, again, I will be seeing a real Dr. I will NEVER be seen at West Florida again. If I was bleeding to death, I would take my chances to be transported elsewhere. I am not one that is seen by an ER Dr, for every sniffle or bump or bruise. I was told by my primary physician to go to an ER due to my symptoms and pain. It's ridiculous that I can be seen by a Dr, and tell you exactly what I'll be diagnosed with and the med he will prescribe. To actually think there are people that are there for real pain and symptoms and are not drug seeking. If this is West FL idea of patient care they need to be fully educated on what patient care really is. I've seen vetanarians that give better diagnosis and have better bed side manners than they did. I will give kudos to my nurse, she rocked, and was more understanding, educated, and compassionate then my Dr was. When I arrived at the ER, I attempted to find a place to sit in the main waiting area. This was impossible. There was used vomit buckets left behind by people, used tissues, food containers, and empty soda bottles every where. I finally find a seat right next to the restrooms. A female triage member uses the restroom, I can hear a flush, and no water ran after. Hands were not washed. About 20 minutes later, the same woman picks a vomit bucket up with bare hands, walks it to the restroom to dispose of it. Again hands were not washed. And sitting as close as I was, you could tell who washed their hands and who didn't. How disgusting and unsanitary is this? If I wasn't in so much pain and had been waiting for over two hours already I would have left and gone elsewhere. If I ever have to come here in the future, I now know to bring bleach or muratic acid with me. (3 weeks ago)

Hospital staff is wonder nice lovely.. but a business needs compassion an love to treat people the right way.. prescribing RX is to me a absolute no no. It's time to take patients health serious draining insurance compensation. But when are these hospital start connecting to success storys it more than just a smile it's the work you place behind the them loving employee s. Yes this a retired area but most of the people are not but crippling medical staff Dr or nurses where the Brian's at to heal an not leave anyone hurt or damage..miracles faith in my eyes should stand for not found in a pay check it found in actually caring (3 months ago)

My mom came here after having a stroke because of the rumored amazing rehabilitation center. I do agree their rehab is amazing but their nurses are the worst ever. My mom's blood pressure was 210 over 110 and the nurses just take their sweet time to administer her meds. They have absolutely no urgency here. My mom was left in the bathroom alone for 50 minutes after multiple times the help cord was pulled, nobody showed up until 50 minutes later. Not only did they manage to leave a patient who is high fall risk alone, when they assisted with her transport to the bathroom, they managed to allow her knee on the stroke side to buckle and had to take an x-ray to make sure she didn't have any broken bones. I have called the charge nurses phone multiple times and nobody ever answers. This sorry excuse for a hospital is so bad that somehow the nurse "forgot" to chart my mom's meds before giving it to her. Later the nurse comes in and digs through the trash to find the medicine so she can chart it. Avoid this piece of junk if you value your life or your loved ones. They will allow you or your loved ones to suffer and die without any care in the world. I have requested multiple times to speak to the director and I get the same answers of "she's on the way" hour after hour but nobody ever shows up. I will be reporting this hospital to the correct government agencies for mistreatment of patients. (a month ago)

My daughter had a nasty cold and came in with a 104.1 temperature. All they told us to do was alternate Tylenol and Motrin. That's the best you can come up with? That's what $250 visit paid for? Don't you think that I would be there if we haven't tried that already? Absolutely not. She needed something stronger obviously. Weeks later she still has the cough with the cold. I expected better from West Florida. (4 months ago)

After spending 20min finding parking. Was triaged fairly quickly, and sent back. After all the usually questions, blood work was ordered, they drew there vials and as they were being taken to get run, the nurse was told nevermind. I have a health issue and it should have been run, but instead was told to come back if I felt bad again. Then now I have ER VISIT bill of $868 and I was treated like I had no reason to come to hospital. (a week ago)
