My family has had 3 encounters with Portage Medical Center and all 3 truly amazed me. The first two visits were for my husband and both were for hip dislocation. The staff members were excellent! He was back home with in a few hours with no complications. He was able to go about his normal day after each trip. On a third occasion of dislocating his hip, he was in a neighboring city and had to go to one of hospitals in the city, it was a horrible experience that took a few days for him to come back to his normal self. My third visit to Portage Medical Center was with my mother to get a cortisone injection. From Admin to discharge, I was very impressed by their service to their patients and to the family waiting. During this procedure, one of the nurses started to talk to her about shooting pool. When the doctor said they were done, she hadn't felt a thing. They seen her fear, and handled it perfectly. I want to thank all of the staff at Portage Medical Center for the care that they have shown to my family. (5 months ago)

The doctor was very good, removed a kidney stone. Nurses before and after the procedure were great. They were extremely attentive and always asking if I needed anything and kept me informed of the time as the doctor was behind. The person doing the anesthetic was letting me know about the procedure they would be doing. Have not gotten bill, but I am sure the price is the same as it would be at every other hospital. Had our first visit to the Kent ED the other night when our 18 month old fell and split his forehead open and needed stitches. The staff were all amazing (Ed-RN, Cheryl-NP, and Dr. Vesco to mention a few). We were in and out within 35 minutes and treated great. Well done UH! (9 months ago)

They will charge you extremely exaggerated prices for a simple service. They do not negotiate with most insurance company's as well. Don't go even for last resort. (5 months ago)

Wish there was a option for negative ratings because this place definitely qualifies. The service sucks, all the doctors are quacks, and you'll die in the waiting room way before they are even ready to see you. (7 months ago)
