My husband rolled his tractor and was pinned underneath. He was taken to Sumner Station. These type accidents rarely have a happy ending but this one does. From the second we went into the E.R. to the time we were released from the 6th floor of Sumner Regional, there truly aren't enough accolades to praise the staff.....every one of them! They expeditiously communicated every detail of what they were doing and as much as possible what to expect. The entire place was spotlessly clean. They offered me coffee and water while I waited. They treated my husband with gentle care and understanding; truly could not have been any more kind. He was transported to Sumner Regional where the care remained the same. Their concern for his wellbeing and their knowledge of what he needed was over the top. I hope to never be or have anyone that I love in any other facility. THIS HOUSE ROCKS!!!! DO NOT GO HERE THE ER STAFF IS RUDE AND RACIST! Arrived at 11pm with chess pains , shortness of breath and flu like symptoms. I was never greeted or asked a single question by the receptionist. I filled out the form and gave it to her and she said nothing . I was never given a bracelet that they give u once they check you in . I sat shivering and taking my asthma inhaler trying to help myself breathe. I asked for a blanket receptionist stated she would give me one and never did. I was in so much pain and struggling so bad I called 911. The 911 operator felt so bad she stated that I did not sound good and she would call the hospital to see if it was anything they could do. While still waiting in the ER room watching everyone who arrived after me get checked in, get a hospital bracelet, and get taken to a room I literally couldn’t take it anymore . I texted my mom to borrow some albuterol so I can take a breathing treatment at her home and left the ER still NEVER BEING SEEN! I’m just grateful that I had someone who had the same medication as me . I was afraid for my life as asthmatic who could have DIED in this Er . DO NOT GO HERE IF IT IS A EMERGENCY! The staff is RUDE AND RACIST! They became upset with me when I asked what was going on and why I didn’t receive a blanket! I was sick and weak and she called security because I spoke up for myself ! Why are they allowed to treat people this way? (2 months ago)

My boyfriend/business partner was there for nearly a week. The doctor cleared him for discharge 2 days before he actually left. If the case manager had actually taken the time to listen and called his insurance company as we asked repeatedly, much less stress could have been generated. That was just the icing on the cake after a week of mostly incompetent and uncompassionate care from the day shift staff. From being told to take the blanket from his bed and put it on the floor of the bathroom when showering to hardly anyone sanitizing hands, equipment, or gloving up sanitation practices were a farce. There were some great caregivers as well, primarily night shift, PT, and the docs. We had an extensive conversation with the Director of Nursing about our concerns but I have no confidence that things will change. Recommendations - train the nursing staff on how to listen and respond with empathy, communicate with the patient and their caregiver, actually listen, and follow basic sanitation practices. Worst hospital around, ER charge nurse:manager complaining out loud about working 3 nurses short, also made comments about “backward Westmoreland people”. Very unprofessional. Wish my family would not have to go there. (Went by ambulance) The staff did not identify themselves so we never knew who was who. Call bell not answered. Staff would not give straightforward answers to specific questions, I know the difference, I’m in the medical field. Save yourself, don’t go there. (6 months ago)

If I could give this review a zero star rating I would! After my bad experience with rude disrespectful and unprofessional nurses and techs on the 5th floor, I will never allow myself or a loved one ever go back to this hospital again, they were extremely careless when they were suppose to be treating my father that just had a leg amputated, he had to keep asking for things like water and ice and took the nurse almost 45 minutes to bring something so simple, then they pick up a blanket off the floor and put if back on him instead of getting a clean one but it only gets much worse the food they were trying to feed him was not what you should be feeding a diabetic, like chocolate chip cookies and putting sugar packets on the tray with coffee. Staff wanted him to get up on crutches just 4 hours after surgery causing the pain to intensify, they were very argumentative with my dad and even got smart and shouted at another patient in the room across the hall. Also had a nurse flash a bar code scanner in my face possibly causing an eye injury. This hospital is terrible please avoid this place at all costs! (3 months ago)
