I have been in this hospital little over 24 hours with my daughter who was transferred here from our hometown hospital due to her neurosurgeon being from this hospital. I wish o could give them less than a star. The hospital is almost completely empty and I understand why, my daughter is presently on a EEG machine that doesn’t allow her to go to the bathroom or even wash her hands without having the door open , we got told by the nursing staff that we are getting a roommate at 4 am in the morning, let me remind you this hospital is empty. After advising very nicely to the staff our concern we get told by the same staff that is there are no other rooms available??? I feel nursing and any kind of care that requires interaction with children should be a calling. It’s not just a job, if you can’t deal with people you are in the wrong kind of business. I believe my family and I are not here by choice, we are here because of a necessity. I will make sure that all my colleagues as well as family and friends stay in the New Jersey side with their kids. This is a hospital that will remain empty unless something is done. My husband and I feel this is a very difficult position to put a family in specially when you are not here by choice. (a week ago)

I was just in the ER and I had an awful experience. First, while I was waiting on a doctor you could hear a registration nurse joking w someone else “maybe I don’t want to go into room 212.” Which happened to be the room I was in with my son, even if it was a joke, not something a mother with a sick son wants to hear. Then, right before leaving I had to use the restroom. One of the janitors was cleaning one of the bathrooms and me and another staff member headed towards the other bathroom where we both stopped, I asked her and pointed towards the bathroom if she wanted to go first.. she said nothin and I asked again, again said nothing so I went in. As I was closing the door I could hear her mouthing off “didn’t she see I was going into the bathroom?” Her (older black lady, short salt and pepper hair, maroon jacket) and the janitorial employee (female with long dreadlocks) could be heard speaking badly of me. So I opened the door and asked the older lady if there was an issue, she just continued walking up the hallway, then the janitorial lady started mouthing off at me. Correct me if I’m wrong but I though this hospital respected its patients, I can see I’m wrong, and those 2 ladies w very bad attitudes are the reason for why I will never go there again, and will start taking my children over to CHOP, where I heard they do respect their patients. Not only that, how many times haven’t we waited way too long in the ER to be seen?! Never again! (a month ago)

This place is by far the worst hospital ever. Took my daughter to the ER and some of the nurses were extremely slow with their services. Found a bed bug in the ER waiting room. Took HOURS for them to admit us into a room even though they said it wasn’t crowded. Once admitted into a room on the 4th floor In south wing, a baby across the hall from us was screaming to the top of its lungs and choking because of that. The parents were nowhere to be found and after 20 minutes (now about 11pm) I spoke up and the nurses said “we know were monitoring him”. The janitor who came to take trash out and clean room was very loud knowing my child was asleep. Cafeteria had a lunch menu on the wall with a wide variety of foods. When trying to order I was notified that they only had chicken fingers, fried fish, and fries. This has to be one of the worst experiences that I’ve had (2 months ago)

So, tonight as we speak the ED is filled... This happens. It's flu season. However, it seems as though they are not prepared for any type of surge... When we asked for a mask to protect ourselves from potential flu exposure we were told "No don't have any." Sorry, not an acceptable answer. The PA Dept of Health just sent the signage to use masks and take other precautions to limit illness but we're told no... Someone isn't doing what they need to be doing here. Without going into reasons why were here... There definitely needs to be an improvement. I will be contacting our insurance company as well as the Doh, joint commission, to express my concern for the way things are being done. Extremely concerning. (3 months ago)

Never had a problem until recently . My son is 5 and has Autism we were scheduled to come in at 11:00am to get his tonsils removed. They didnt take him back until 4:15 pm . He hasnt eaten or drunk anything since the night before so were very upset about him sitting for so long and cant even drink water. Finally when the procedure is finished hes freaking out like i told them he would be . I ask them to come get me before he woke because of all the new faces (nurses) and he has autism he will freak out. Nope they didn't...then said it was not noted that he has AUTISM . By us being the last ones to be seen they kept hi over night to monitor him. Everyone upstairs were super nice . But at 2:30am i was woken by itching on my left shoulder. Called the nurse in showed her she gave me an alcohol pad then as im checking my covers they gave me i found a BUG ...killed it and gave it to her she showed her supervisor and we were moved to a different room. I was over it after that im not trying to bring any bed bugs home from the hospital or anywhere else. I know many people come in and out of there all day long but there has to be a better way to make sure this doesnt happen. Im glad it was me that got bit and not my son. But i should not have to shack my stuff out and check my bags before i leave fron a place thats suppose to be sanitized at all times. (in the last week)
