We can receive better health care for a vet then Slidell memorial hospital. 2 1/2 hours waiting in the ER. My son coughing up blood. (2 weeks ago)

I've been a patient here many times, I also frequently visit for necessary medical procedures due to health issues and there is no better Hospital than SMH. Doctors are proficient, Nurses are outstanding and staff is kind, caring, and all around great! I drive all the way from N.O. because of the wonderful service I've been receiving from SMH over the last 12 years. (a month ago)

Horrible horrible horrible. They don't have any compaison for you at all. Er is very rude! I will never go back I would rather die. It's that bad. Dirty they don't clean ER rooms watched them bring people in and out for hours and didn't change sheets on the beds. Please be careful! (3 months ago)

While travelling from New Orleans to the Jackson, MS area, my son became violently ill and we had to bring him to the nearest ER at 11:00 on a weeknight. SMH showed up on the GPS so away we went. BEST DECISION EVER. It was a quiet night and they got him in promptly but that's not the reason for the rating. The staff there was unbelievably friendly and helpful to us while we were there. They were genuinely resolved to find the source of the issue, not just push us through like a meat market. Even the police that was on duty called a cab for us and got us to a safe hotel for the night. People of Slidell, please do not take this gem for granted. In the Jackson area, we long for anything even close to what you have there. I wish we could pick it up and bring it north. (7 months ago)

I am torn on the review as the treatment in the ER was completely different from what was given after admission. I took my mother in for an emergency visit and upon arriving we were taken to a room quickly. We arrived around 9:30 pm. The shift that was there upon arriving was prompt and seemed to show an interest in treating my mother. Then came the next shift and all you seen was like a family get together. Employees walking around chatting with each other, laughing and carrying on. Some just standing around. One was playing games on her cell phone. My mother had to use the restroom so I called to get some assistance and a bedpan. After 40 minutes I rang again letting them know it had been a while since I called before. I was told for the second time someone would be right with us. Again I called for assistance after waiting 25 minutes. Still nothing. After another 35 minutes I opened the door to get the attention of one of the employees who was telling another employee about their weekend activities (I could hear them talking thru the door) and the girl finally came in and handed me the bedpan and just stood their. My mother was having extreme pain and swelling in her legs so I could have used some help at least. So I had to assist my mother by myself without gloves, wipes etc... while she just stood their. While that is going on cell phone girl (the one playing games on cell phone with back to me) hollered for the other girl to lock the door and close the blinds to our room; which the no help girl did. I suggest if you take a family member to this ER to bring your own bedpan, wipes and another person to assist you while third shift is on as they do not like to lift a finger. No elderly person should have to wait 1 1/2 hours to use the restroom. Once up on the floor the staffing their was wonderful. I do not like to leave negative reviews but the treatment my mother received in the ER was unacceptable. (5 months ago)
