Not bad for a small, rural hospital. Of course NIH can't compete with the level of care provided at other larger hospitals located in more urban areas, simply because they're much smaller and lack the necessary medical equipment and experienced specialists. However, because of its smaller size they can give more of their time and attention to patient care. They are adaptable, hospitable and genuinely friendly. This hospital, although small and isolated, can hold it's own. (3 months ago)

Small town or not the staff provides great service & made me comfortable. (10 months ago)

This should be a negative 5 stars. Absolutely the worst health care I have ever seen, not once but twice. This hospital fails to maintain even the lowest standards of care I have ever witnessed. They fail to do the minimum testing that is inticated for geriatric patients and have even cancelled the appropriate tests so they able to transfer a patient just to dump the care on another facility. I would recommend taking a family member to Mammoth Hospital or even Southern Inyo now that it has reopened. Use this hospital as a last resort. I took a family member there and the news was all over town 2 days later. The care is horrible and the confidentiality is absent. Trust this hospital only as an option if death is impending or just trust the odds. (a year ago)

Broke my arm snowboarding up at June, but we came back down to Bishop because we were staying there. I was seen in the ER within minutes and then immediately given a bed. The staff were all so friendly and went out of their way to make me comfortable. They patched me up so I could drive back home to San Diego for longer termed care. Northern Inyo was clean, safe, friendly and fast. You can tell a lot about a hospital by how happy the staff is and everyone I met from billing, to x-ray tech, nurse and physician were so friendly. As a nurse, it is a hospital I wish I could work at! (2 years ago)

Really good facilities for a small town hospital. (a year ago)
