We were on vacation and my husband was having bad stomach problems. We spent over 5 hours in the er. They never took his temp. He had a pain shot given and they didn’t ask his name or look at his wrist band. At one point a nurse came in while my husband was having a scan and asked me why I was in the chair and not hooked up to the iv! The restroom was filthy. After 5+ hours, we left with no medication and no improvement. Can’t wait to see the bill. The people were nice but this was a joke. Doesn’t make us want to ever come to Nashville again! I’ve been coming to Meharry for 20+ years. Recently my experience here with the EMS staff has been terrible. I have chronic abdominal pain that I really need guidance with and these people are very unprofessional and un organized. (a week ago)

My 41 year old son called me this morning to advise me he was admitted last night to the Nashville General MeHarry hospital. I asked him if he would please sign a HIPPA form so I could discuss his condition with the medical staff. He pushed his button and made the request while we were on the phone. They gave him a code for me to use while he is in the hospital. I explained to my sign that I would appreciate it if he would also sign the HIPPA form to be kept in his medical records so in the event he is admitted to the hospital unconscious they would know it is ok to talk to me-unfortunately none of the workers at the nurses station that I talked with had any idea what I was talking about! Travene transferred me to Kris who put me on speaker phone at the nurses station! I could hear Travane laughing at me while I was talking to Kris who admitted we were on speaker phone when I asked, at least she told the truth! She then transferred me to the charge nurse, Becky who also had no idea what I was talking about. I finally gave up and hung up and called Human Resources to file a complaint. Robin with Human Resources told me they did not except employee complaints from the public-only from other employees! She referred me to a patient advocate who went to see my son immediately, however, she also did not understand I just wanted HIPPA form MH-5025 filled out. I do not appreciate the unprofessional attitudes of the employees I spoke with, nor the immature laughter at the nurses desk in regard to such a serious matter. (3 weeks ago)

I love Meharry. The people here have been so good to me during the process of setting up my eye surgery. Like any other hospital, or any other place, you have rude people. I have not experienced that here. (2 months ago)

Place is completely unhealthy! No one knew a thing of what was going on with anything. They argued over my appointment that was being made. The so called Dr. made the appointment and then it was changed because it wasn't right with the other schedule??? And that happened 3 times! The appointment also happened after I had a YEARS wait. Inside looked like I was in a homeless shelter.... Nasty slime in the sinks, very old equipment and everyone was rude. NGH was a morgue not hospital! (5 months ago)
