I am a cancer patient at Mercy since 2015. How do you possibly begin to thank a doctor(s), nurses, and institution that has literally saved your life?! When I was at my worst, the surgeon took the time to call me personally and ask what was going on with me. This was about 8:30 at night, as I recall. I was crying on the phone because I was in such horrific pain! This surgeon gave up his day off and came into his office at the hospital just so that he could see me!! Like I said, I was in very bad shape, so after seeing my pitiful state, he operated on me 2 days later! I was in intensive care, where I received the best treatment ever, from any hospital. Mercy is rated a top hospital for a very good reason! Excellent place with excellent, caring people. By the way, I would venture to say that at least 75 percent of the patients there are on Medicaid, so some of the complaints that Mercy is only after patients' money is very inaccurate. believe me, they are not getting rich off of Medicaid recipients! I had a problem with a bill, and about three weeks later, I was given full financial aid plus debt forgiveness for doctors I had seen there in the past! I love this place, they saved my life! - Mercy is a beacon of light and hope in a city almost completely out of control with poverty, drugs, and unspeakable violence... God Bless this place and their dedicated staff! (2 months ago)

Mercy killed my mother early Monday morning. They had a student there training and they messed up big time. They was suppose to do 5 minute procedure that took 45 minutes for them to do. They told me and my dad she only have 1 month left to live, then came back moments later and said she's not breathing to good. My mother was talking and breathing fine when we took her there. I now have a lawyer thats working on her case against them (3 weeks ago)

Have had 4,spinal surgeries at Mercy and always received excellent care from all staff. Nurses in recovery are always very pleasant, helpful, and most caring. Of course can’t sing enough praises for my surgeon. Dr. Charles Edwards, Sr. Absolutely the very best!!!! (2 months ago)

Avoid unless you are rich. Mercy charged me nearly $5,000 for a 30-minute appointment and ONE skin biopsy that came back completely negative. That means the doctor charges roughly $2500 an hour for that simple procedure which is absolutely ridiculous. Avoid. This is what is wrong with healthcare in this country. (a week ago)

Spent 7 hours in the ER 4/10/18, but because of an ER nurse Alexia it was most pleasant. She was very cordial and kept me informed of any actions pertaining to me. She treated me like I was a VIP. She also complimented me for being so patient and understanding. realize their job can be very stressful at times and too often they get bitched at. (3 months ago)
