I am a cancer patient at Mercy since 2015. How do you possibly begin to thank a doctor(s), nurses, and institution that has literally saved your life?! When I was at my worst, the surgeon took the time to call me personally and ask what was going on with me. This was about 8:30 at night, as I recall. I was crying on the phone because I was in such horrific pain! This surgeon gave up his day off and came into his office at the hospital just so that he could see me!! Like I said, I was in very bad shape, so after seeing my pitiful state, he operated on me 2 days later! I was in intensive care, where I received the best treatment ever, from any hospital. Mercy is rated a top hospital for a very good reason! Excellent place with excellent, caring people. By the way, I would venture to say that at least 75 percent of the patients there are on Medicaid, so some of the complaints that Mercy is only after patients' money is very inaccurate. believe me, they are not getting rich off of Medicaid recipients! I had a problem with a bill, and about three weeks later, I was given full financial aid plus debt forgiveness for doctors I had seen there in the past! I love this place, they saved my life! - Mercy is a beacon of light and hope in a city almost completely out of control with poverty, drugs, and unspeakable violence... God Bless this place and their dedicated staff! (2 weeks ago)

Have had 4,spinal surgeries at Mercy and always received excellent care from all staff. Nurses in recovery are always very pleasant, helpful, and most caring. Of course can’t sing enough praises for my surgeon. Dr. Charles Edwards, Sr. Absolutely the very best!!!! (3 weeks ago)

Spent 7 hours in the ER 4/10/18, but because of an ER nurse Alexia it was most pleasant. She was very cordial and kept me informed of any actions pertaining to me. She treated me like I was a VIP. She also complimented me for being so patient and understanding. realize their job can be very stressful at times and too often they get bitched at. (a month ago)

If only I could give ZERO stars. Why this hospital exists beats me. Their sole purpose is to admit and bill. NOT TREAT. They had one doctor at night. Foreign doctor ...maybe half Asian and white could care less about the severe pain I was in. I waited 4 hours before I was seen. Nurses are on their phones, unapproachable, dismissive, unprofessional...can I go on? Then the audacity of them to send me to a specialist and have me leave in worse condition than I started with. A friend is a cancer patient here and we both have had a very positive experience. The building is very nice, comfortable facilities, and pleasant roof top gardens off the 8th and 9th floors. The parking at 250 East Pleasant St is reasonable and connected via walking bridge directly to the lobby. We experienced the surgery department, the critical care department, and the cancer care department. Professional and considerate employees. Doctor Rosenshein is awesome and one of the kindest most considerate doctors I've ever encountered. 100% positive experience for a negative condition. (2 weeks ago)
