Reviews

MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center provides low-quality care and ZERO empathy to their patients. The reviews regarding patient care in ICU are all true. My mother recently was rush to the ER which saved her life. The care she received after was not only appalling but nurse staff, in particular, Brian, was rude and provided borderline care. I read the reviews and even questioned how often they bathed their patients and was rudely respond do. Was told, "when they need it"... needless to say, she left ICU with bed sores, skin infections from 12 hours of being in her own urine because she was not properly taken care of. If there was legal action that could be taken for inadequate care, I would welcome the opportunity to make them pay. These are lives they are dealing with. Surgeons did their jobs to save lives and ICU nurses didn't and DON'T operate at the same level of patient care. If you have the opportunity to NOT have your loved ones here... PLEASE take them to a better facility. The negative reviews here are ALL true based on my family's experience there. I was shocked to hear my mother say... "GET ME OUT OF HERE PLEASE" (a month ago)

12/24/17 was my first encounter with Southern MD Hosp. I have to say that I was truly truly truly impressed with the service I received in the ER. From the moment I signed in, the staff was professional and attentive. I received prompt and courteous assistance. Although I was in pain, and despite it being late XMAS EVE the staff was extremely polite and professional. Dr. Tillman and the nurses were patient, sensitive, and listened attentively to my concerns. Follow-up was prompt and the staff seemed to care about my well being. This is the absolute best experience that I’ve had at an ER in DMV area. Southern MD exceeded my expectations during an unexpected medical emergency. Thank you all so very much!! This place is absolutely horrible. The staff here is so ignorant and unproffessional. Absolutely no compassion. Staff walking around on thier phones, video calls, talking loudly about personal things. Rude and loud when dealing with delicate situations. I have a family member in ICU and the nurse taking caring of him cannot perform normal functions of the job, dont respond to the beeping machines... ect. Horrible place, horrible staff. No one knows where anyone is, I had to call 4 times to know to see if my dad was there from an ambulance, each time nothing until I had to describe him thoroughly. Then when we arrived to the hospital was told to go to three different places to find where he was.. told we would wait 20 minutes to see him it ended up being 3.5 hours. Horrible. No system to anything they do. (a week ago)

Diverted to MedStar Southern Maryland literally as we were on the beltway and my wife started to experience chest pains. The facility is older and shows its age. The wait time was both good and bad - immediately started an EKG - no heart attack - but the overall wait time was poor: ~ 6 hours. The intake, nursing and doctor staff was very good. The providers actively listened, didn't rush and took time to explain what they thought might be happening. Impressed with the providers, not so much with the facility. (4 months ago)

What a freindly drs and nurses, every body in this hospital is great thank you all and God bless you. (2 weeks ago)
