I fell and broke my leg on the way to Mississippi for vacation on July 3rd. I was treated at the ER when I arrived around 2:30 pm. Everyone was really nice except the man at the front desk. The first thing I noticed was he was chewing gum. Not very professional for someone you see first. He was also rude. When I asked if he wanted my insurance cards he made me feel like I was stupid for asking. While I was being tended to my man went to the nearby hotel to unload our luggage. When he came back for me the man at the front desk made him go all the way around to another door instead of letting him in the door next to my exam room. I will not be returning to this hospital again. (in the last week)

I NEVER use Highland Hospital because of the poor treatment by the doctors & staff..They are a glorified Band-aid station in my opinion..My Mama died 15 minutes after she was released from there. She was sent home after a fall with a BP of 60/30,she had a pacemaker & defibrillator, she had a broken wrist & a HUGE hematoma on her forehead.. The woman we spoke to as to why they sent her home in that condition said "your mother was 82,did you expect her to live forever!" also I have had several other family members almost die because of the poor treatment they were given there.. I needed some lab work,so I said I will go there because it's just a blood draw.. I had the blood work done and was charged over a $1000.00 my insurance paid $886.36 and I got a bill for $247.84 my part after insurance.. My sister had the exact same wellness blood work done at Quest Diagnostics and the whole amount was $98.... Highland Community Hospital is ripping the people and insurance companies off..I called them and they said different Labs charge different amounts for their services.. 10x the amount of Quest is a rip off big time! I delivered my baby girl here. Nurses were very attentive and kind. I rate this a 4 I would have rated a 5 but one of the nurses forgot I was allergic to latex and gave me a latex catheter and due to my epadural I couldn't feel the irritating effects of it. So, my healing has been a pain! Other than that they quickly went to work when they realized my baby girl had her cord around her neck and helped her breathe. (3 months ago)

If I could give it no stars I would. Here a few horror stories: 1. My brother in law passed out in the kitchen and was brought here for testing. They didnt use any gloves when taking blood samples and no gloves again when they put in an IV. He could’ve contracted AIDS or HIV from the nurse and vice versa. The wait is horrible and nobody talks to you for hours. 2. A friend of mine was pregnant and went in with some issues and they recommended a d&c because she “had a miscarriage and the baby was now nothing but debris on her uterus” she went to Hattiesburg and the baby was fine btw. 3. My cousin had issues and my aunt brought him in and they told them it was his appendix and they needed to take it out immediately. My aunt refused to sign because they didn’t even test him for appendix problems. They told her she would get in s lot of trouble for refusing doctors orders if she did not sign. 4. Another friend of mine was having a legitimate miscarriage. They sent her home and told her to take Tylenol to help the pain go away and that there was nothing else they could do. 5. If you ever need a job just walk in and say “y’all need a doctor? Well I’m here don’t worry!” Because that’s the kinds of nurses and doctors they seem to have here, unqualified, inexperienced, dim witted staff who thinks they know everything because they have a degree in which they know nothing about.
