The ER experience was not good. We waited approx. 8 hours with a dehydrated 5 year old begging for an IV. However, once she was admitted upstairs to the Janet Weis Children's Hospital our experience was great. The nurses and staff were wonderful, knowledgeable, and accommodating. They gave my daughter a princess blanket, pillow case, stuffed animals, and box of toys. I would go back here again for my children. I just wish we could bypass the ER because that was insane. My mother was there from 3/23 till 4/19 in the icu the staff did a wonderful job doctors, nurses, and staff. The building was kept clean and I wish I could remember all of the names of the people that helped my mother thanks team! You guys are true heroes. (2 months ago)

I haven’t been to the ER there in years so I can’t comment on that, but every other department, doctor, nurse, and staff member that my family and I have had contact have been friendly, kind, and professional. Last year my son got sick. The team of his urologist, Dr. Haren, his oncologist, Dr. Castillo, and every person at the cancer center took the most excellent care of him, as well as making a terrified mother feel positive and reassured. I have had many surgeries and procedures there myself. I’ve not a bad thing to say. (2 months ago)

I brought my husband here three days ago (Thursday)for chest/stomach pain. Once they finally took us back they put him in the hallway for HOURS. When they finally decided to keep him they didn’t have a room so “made one up” for him. A surgeon spoke to him yesterday (Friday) and told him he needed surgery and then told him if he could eat something he could go home. He is having trouble with his gallbladder so of course they gave him grapes and a sandwich which of course he couldn’t eat it. Much much later she comes back and tell us he is scheduled for surgery this afternoon (Saturday). She never introduced herself and was very clinical. This morning (Saturday)I get a call from husband at 8:30 am telling me they are taking him to surgery now. I barely made it before he went in to surgery and then they told me about 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Two and a half hours later I’m still waiting. When they finally come out to tell me he is done they said I could see him in about 20-30 minutes. That was over an hour ago and I still haven’t heard anything more. They don’t communicate and they leave everyone hanging no matter what Department you are in. There is no one here to tell me what is going and there update board has patient numbers on it not names but they never gave me his number. This hospital is better than Wilkes Barre General but not by much. Stop trying to make money and start caring about the patient and their loved ones. I’m so frustrated with this place. The wait time in the ER is RIDICULOUS!!! Sitting here for OVER 5 HOURS!!! How MANY doctor's ARE ACTUALLY in this building??? Geisinger NEEDS to have MORE STAFF ON HAND, that's for sure!!!!! I AM DISGUSTED WITH THE WAIT TIME!!!! This is the WORST WAIT TIME that I have experienced in my ENTIRE LIFE!!!! The Geisinger Health Care System SHOULD BE EMBARRASSED OF THEMSELVES!!!!! I suggest that you just call 911 for an ambulance, so you can get right in!!! (2 months ago)
