This was my first time here and I was very pleased. I was born and raised in Sarasota and have always been to SMH. Sarasota Memorial ER can’t be compared to the Doctors Hospital! The wait and treatment by most at SMH is ridiculous! I brought my three month old here this evening and they got us in and out, and they were very thorough. Every person we met today was very caring and genuine. The only reason I didn’t give them a 5 is because we were initially brought into a room, near the waiting room, and the door was left open so we didn’t have any privacy at first. Besides that, I am very happy and recommend to my family and will send my friends! (in the last week)

This a great second choice hospital if for some reason you can't make it to Sarasota Memorial. They are private so be careful about insurance coverage. Overall a quick but not so thorough experience. They have a strange policy however of not administering pain meds even when you are in severe pain. It's very strange. Good hospital for cold, flu.... Surgery or major crisis, overdoses... Not a good choice. (2 months ago)

I spent 12 days in Doctors Hospital of Sarasota recovering from pneumonia. My quality of care was outstanding. The various doctors were most competent in following and treating my condition. The entire staff of nurses and specialists was friendly and caring. I don't live in Sarasota and don't want to go back to any hospital but I give this one high marks for excellent quality of care. Luckily my mother had a wonderful RN. She was very attentive and made my mother feel at home best she could! Thank you Meghan! Now the “I’m too busy chit-chatting” HEAD nurse Lucy needs to rethink her bedside manner. (3 weeks ago)

The elderly woman at the front desk, who I think was actually a volunteer, seemed like a genuinely nice woman. Besides the really nasty looks she gave me, she seemed nice. I told her I came in for chest pain, and she told me she'd tell the nurse. I said thank you. That was the end of our conversation. About 30 minutes later the nurse called me back to do my vitals and whatnot. The first thing she said was "So you're in here for chest pain when you breathe in?" And I said to her chest pain yes, but it's not when I breathe in. She snapped back at me in a short, rude tone of voice "Well that's not what I was told" I told her I never said there was pain when I breathed in to anybody. She snapped back at me "Well I heard you tell her that it was when you breathed in" Once again I told her I never said that. She snapped back at me "I heard you. You did say it." I was frustrated and in pain. So for the sake of not having to argue any longer, I said "maybe I did say it, but I'm pretty sure I didn't." To which she snapped back with "You did" I don't know why she was being so rude and short with me, and treating me as if I was lying about what I said. But I think the elderly woman at the front desk might have been what caused it all. I think she might just be a little too old to be volunteering there because it seems like she told the nurse who was doing vitals something different from what I told her at the front desk, which caused confusion and an argument between me and the nurse doing vitals. No problems with anybody else for the rest of my stay though. Everybody was friendly and listened to me. (2 months ago)
